Dear Neighbour,

My wife and I have called Etobicoke Centre-Lakeshore home for the past 25 years. Here, we have watched our family and our community grow.

There have been numerous changes in our ward that are of great concern to us all. Changes like more forthcoming development of high rises along Dundas Street West, an aging and inadequate infrastructure, increases in our taxes, new taxes being introduced, a stagnating Queensway, and the urbanization of green spaces. I want to bring these and other concerns forward.

We need to review the current Etobicoke Secondary Plan and implement infrastructure changes that better service the residents in the area. As an example, building a supermarket and recreational centre in the Westwood Theatre Lands will better serve all the residents from the numerous high-rises adjacent to the Lands. This new initiative will be within walking distance of the residents and it will also create new businesses and new job opportunities. Relocating a courthouse with its' present employees doesn't really service the residents in the area. This is one example of focused land development, and there are many more within our community.

I will promote our community by setting new initiatives, by revitalizing the main arterial roads namely The Queensway and Dundas Street West. My action plan includes a privately funded Arts and Cultural Centre, with underground parking and a transit terminal. This centre will include open landscaping, business retail, WiFi and new job creations. With the forthcoming 2015 Pan American Games, a privately funded Velodrome will provide athletic training year round. These two initiatives will boost the economy and promote Toronto tourism worldwide.

I will be mindful of the concerns of the community and I will implement measures to create a thriving and safe environment. I will promote global communication and partnership. I will preserve our green spaces for future generations to enjoy.  I will strive to ensure appropriate management and transparency of public money, and I will be approachable and accessible. I will earn your confidence.

I welcome your thoughts on how we can promote and develop a stronger Etobicoke-Lakeshore and a better City of Toronto.
